The “Test & Protect” system in Scotland went live today – Thursday 28th May. Test and Protect is Scotland’s approach to implementing the ‘test, trace, isolate, support’ strategy.  This public health measure is designed to break chains of transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the community.

It will help to gradually change the restrictions that suppress the virus, and instead to contain it, so that society and the economy can avoid a return to lockdown and adapt to a new normal.

Under Test and Protect, people who have symptoms of the virus will still be asked to self-isolate for 7 days, and their household members for 14 days.,

However, now the NHS will also now be asking people to self-isolate for 14 days who do not have symptoms but have been in close contact with someone who has been confirmed to have the virus by a positive test.

Those who have symptoms of coronavirus (new, continuous cough, fever or loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste) must now book a test as soon as any symptoms emerge.  This can be done by calling 0800 028 2816 to book a test.

By taking this action you can help the NHS to quickly trace and isolate those who you may have been in contact with and to contain the spread of the virus.
